Current ATP No. 37 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga announced in his native French that he underwent “une petite operation” on his knee – or “a small procedure” to English speakers.
The two-time Masters 1000 champ also assured his supporters that he’s optimistic about a quick return this season.
Tsonga ranked as high as No. 10 as recently as last July, but has been sliding down the rankings as he approaches his 33rd birthday later this month. He’s only made two tournament appearances this year, reaching the third round of January’s Australian Open before falling to Nick Kyrgios, and then retiring in the semifinals of the Open Sud de France against compatriot Lucas Pouille in early February.
