The Miami Open will have a first-time men’s champion in 2018, and the ATP’s top ranking will change hands next week.

On Saturday, 175th-ranked 21-year-old Thanasi Kokkinakis bounced defending champ and world No. 1 Roger Federer, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) in a second-round stunner.

Federer, who lost for just the second time this season, was the last man remaining in the draw who’d won the tournament before. Having failed to defend any of his points from last year’s title run, he will also lose his top ranking to the idle Rafa Nadal, who sat out this tournament with a hip injury.

More to come.
